It happened a long
hell time ago. It was the Winter of 86 and I had been dating this brunette
girl for a while and we´d had a party at her place house. It was the wee of the
morning just she and I in a living room. Everyone else has either left or gone
to bed. We were a little buzzed and this song came on. She got up and just
started swaying and dancing so sweet and slow. She put her hand out and took my
hand to come dance with her and it was like a lightning bolt: I felt in love
with her right there. 36 years later the song still gives me chills when the memories
creep in. In my mind she reaches out to take my hand and dance. This song will
always be special to me and who knows? Maybe she still remembers it too. The
song is included in the movie Lost in Translation. The film is about two
people who were born for each other 30 years apart, having the chance to live
their love story for a very short period of time, it´s true love but…
I have been watching the movie 50 times and I still
can´t get enough. I love the story of the film. The music complements the
movie so smoothly. They both are having a hard time in life in a foreign
country with a language they don´t speak. They find each other and despite
their age difference, they feel they were meant for each other. But they are
engaged in relationships that don´t want to destroy. Sometime we can´t get what
we want.
I can´t think of a more magical song. We were one. We
were special or we felt special. The thing is that the song is attached to my
soul. Love, after all, comes when you less expected. Anyway, I knew then and I
know now that more than this you know there´s nothing. Whenever she is, God,
please, don´t get lost in the translation. Do something.
