MR NETANYAHU

According to the New York Times the day after Benjamin Netanyahu´s cartoon representation of an iranian nuclear bomb at the UN, opinion was divided on wherther the Israeli Prime Minister´s headline grabbing prop was a stroke of presentational genius or a chep gimmick. From a personal and political standpoint, Mr Netanyahu´s use of the chart waws one of the most effective gripping tricks I have ever seen. In another words, he was absolutely brilliant. Harriet Sherwook worte inThe Guardian.

“ The Isreali prime minister adopted the persona of an elementary school science teacher talking to a particular dim class to explain Iran nuclear program and the point at which it must be stopped”

It goes without saying that Israel, the only real democracy in the Middle east, will stop the Iranian nuclear programme. It will happen sooner or later. In a dramatic address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Mr Netanyahu said Iran poses a threat to the peace of the world and that is incumbent on the world body to prevent the Islamic Republic from obtaining nuclear weapons. Netanyahu also mocked Iranian denial of the holocaust:

“Are the succesive German governments that have kept theses documents for posterity all liars? Said the Israeli´s Prime Minister in one of the best speeches of his career.. He added; “What of the survivors whose arms still bear the tattooed numbers branded on them by the Nazis? Are those tattoos a lie too?

Netanyahu was a desperate call to the western world to put an end to the lies and threats embodied by Iran. Because Iran could end the progress made in the postwar 20th century. Thats the reason why Israel draws a red line for Iran. Mr Netanyahu is convinced that if we do so, Iran will back off. A red line that Chamberlain did not draw to Hitler. Afterwards it was too late to prevent the armagedon. We can not tolerate this. The western world has to get together to protect our civilisation. Casting the battle as one between modernity and the medieval forces of radical Islam. It is now or never. Mr Netanyahu put it this way: “We won`t solve our conflict with libelous speeches at the U.N. We have to sit together, negotiate together and reach a mutual compromise”. A U.N report last month only reinforced israeli fears, finding that Iran has moved of its iranium enrichment into fortified bunkers deep underground where they are impervious to air attack. While Israel is convinced that Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapon, American inteligence officers believe that there is still time for diplomacy.

Israel faces another serious problem when it comes to fight terrorism. The country has also done great efforts for peace by withdrawing from the Gaza Strip. But still the Palestinian problem is unsolved. History could be reversed if primitive fanaticism is deafeated for once and all. The international communisty remains silent when gunmen lauched Qassam Rockets at Israeli cities. It will remain silent when Israel attacks on Iran? Of course not. Anyway, well said, Mr Netanhayu.
